I suspect this bug from 2013 no longer applies - logcheck currently depends on 'default-mta | mail-transport-agent' so it should be fine to replace exim with some other mta: there's no call to 'sensible-mda in logcheck so i suspect this bug is indicating a system without a proper sendmail configuration
suggest we close this, unless anyone has further information
