The /etc/x2go/Xsession script in x2goserver-xsession lacks an API addition of Debian's /etc/X11/Xsession script. Other consumers of the Xsession startup mechanism require these: 

  * OPTIONS variable
  * has_option() function
The fix has already been added to upstream's x2goserver version, but there hasn't been a release including this patch, yet. cf. https://code.x2go.org/gitweb?p=x2goserver.git;a=commit;h=1f9a68b4d1d13f80073d888586b48999316d5907
