Hi, Due to the current limitations of fontconfig system in Debian, the users with CJK locales cannot get bold fonts directly from TTF fonts. Therefore, bitmap fonts are still not a bad choice. For example, WenQuanYi bitmap song font (xfonts-wqy) is such a bitmap font. Unfortunately, I found the firefox built by Debian sid cannot work well with bitmap fonts. When the fonts are set to bitmap font, such as WenQuanYi, the hyperlink texts with bold face usually flicker as mouse pass through them. It is the case even for pure English hyperlinks, say, the bug reports page of Debian if the fonts of western are set to Bitmap fonts. In order to confirm it is Debian related problem, I also tested the official firefox 1.5 and alpha 2.0 from Mozilla. Both of them works well without this problem.
