Package: kernel-package
Version: 10.047
Severity: normal

Hello,

while packaging newer UML-skas patches I got the following when compiling:

====== making target install/linux-image-2.6.16-skas2 [new prereqs: ]======
This is kernel package version 10.047.
echo "The UTS Release version in include/linux/version.h"; echo "
\"2.6.16-skas2-skas3-v9-pre9\" "; echo "does not match current version:"; echo
" \"2.6.16-skas2\" "; echo "Please correct this."; exit 2
The UTS Release version in include/linux/version.h
     "2.6.16-skas2-skas3-v9-pre9"
does not match current version:
     "2.6.16-skas2"
Please correct this.
make: *** [install/linux-image-2.6.16-skas2] Error 2

The patch creates localfile-skas containing the "-skas3-v9-pre9"
version. My command line is:
make-kpkg --rootcmd fakeroot --added-patches skas --append-to-version -skas2
-uc -us kernel_image

If you need an updated kernel-patch-skas package to try to reproduce it
you can get it from:
http://people.debian.org/~malattia/packages/
kernel sources are coming from linux-source-2.6.16

By the way a different test to produce a simple test case
# echo "-mattia" >> localversion-mattia && make-kpkg --append-to-version
-mattia1 ...
produces a different error:

dpkg-gencontrol -DArchitecture=i386 -isp \
                        -plinux-image-2.6.16-mattia1-mattia
-P/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.16/debian/linux-image-2.6.16-mattia1-mattia/
chmod -R og=rX
/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.16/debian/linux-image-2.6.16-mattia1-mattia
chown -R root:root
/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.16/debian/linux-image-2.6.16-mattia1-mattia
dpkg --build
/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.16/debian/linux-image-2.6.16-mattia1-mattia ..
dpkg-deb - error: Debian revision (`mattia') doesn't contain any digits
dpkg-deb: 1 errors in control file
make[1]: *** [debian/linux-image-2.6.16-mattia1-mattia] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-source-2.6.16'
make: *** [binary/linux-image-2.6.16-mattia1-mattia] Error 2

I'm sorry I don't have much time to dig into the kernel-package code
right now... (each kernel build takes quite a lot here)

Thanks,
mattia
