This is fixed by 4.18.6+dfsg-1 upload by I forgot to add changelog entry for this: + * d/rules: export PYTHONDONTWRITEBYTECODE=1 to stop python from generating + .pyc caches (Closes: #1048754) (added now, closing this bugreport). /mjt
