SATA with 2.4.27 sometimes does work and sometimes does not. You/we may be able to get it to work with 2.4, but - as it probably is primarily a kernel problem and we are trying to stabilize things for the release of Sarge - we usually advise people who have problems with 2.4 to try installing using the 2.6 kernel.
