Package: fail2ban Version: 1.0.2-2 Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: a...@king.net.nz
Dear Maintainer, I was trying to use the bantime increment feature in fail2ban. At https://serverfault.com/questions/1093451/fail2ban-bantime-increment-not-working, I see the author recommends "please read the mans attentively". I read the manual page at JAIL.CONF(5), but it did not contain any mention of bantime.increment, or related bantime.* directives. I checked the file /usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/fail2ban/server/observer.py which includes the text "This module was written as part of ban time increment feature." This suggests the functionality is in the Debian package already. (Also the author mentions "Bantime increment facility is released with fail2ban 0.11", so it has probably been in Debian since Bullseye.) I expect that relevant documentation including manual pages should be included in the debian pakage. -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.1 APT prefers stable-security APT policy: (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-12-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_FIRMWARE_WORKAROUND, TAINT_OOT_MODULE, TAINT_UNSIGNED_MODULE Locale: LANG=en_NZ.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_NZ.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_NZ:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages fail2ban depends on: ii python3 3.11.2-1+b1 Versions of packages fail2ban recommends: ii iptables 1.8.9-2 ii nftables 1.0.6-2+deb12u1 pn python3-pyinotify <none> pn python3-systemd <none> ii whois 5.5.17 Versions of packages fail2ban suggests: ii mailutils [mailx] 1:3.15-4 pn monit <none> ii rsyslog [system-log-daemon] 8.2302.0-1 ii sqlite3 3.40.1-2 -- no debconf information
