Hi, For a some times, a few packages now provide 32-bit libraries on amd64. They are installed in /lib32 and /usr/lib32. However, ld does not search libraries in these directories, whereas it searches in /lib64 and /usr/lib64 for 64-bit libraries on a bi-arch system (i386, sparc, powerpc, s390). Note having libraries in /lib32 and /usr/lib32 on amd64 is Debian specific (however Gentoo does the same). Please find attached a patch (122_x86_64_i386_biarch.dpatch) to fix that. I have also attached a patch for the unofficial ppc64 architecture (123_ppc64_powerpc_biarch.dpatch), but I have not tested it.
