Hi, this applies only to Raspian, not to Debian; in Debian, older releases used /boot/firmware as well. I suggest to go ask the Raspian people to fix what they broke.
Mixing packages from other distributions (here Raspian) with Debian packages is not generally supported. bye, //mirabilos (not speaking for the maintainers of this package specifically)
