Hi, if Debian would have active maintainers that would forward bug reports to the Authors or even help with real development work, it would make sense to send bug reports to Debian.
Unfortunately this is not the case and Debian did stop all activities 8 months ago. Instead of working on projects, Debian started to ignore the their Social contract http://www.us.debian.org/social_contract and claims that free programs like star (that are under an aproved license) are unfree.
