The virtaal source package has not seen upstream development for a few years. There was a flurry of work to try to update it to Python 3 and gtk3 that was never really completed. A mostly-working preview was uploaded in 2019 but changes in gtk3 since then leave it as a mostly-non-working version. It's time to say farewell to virtaal - at least for the time being.
