I feel the same when somebody reports an "incredible" bug against a
package I maintain: "If this is a real bug, and it is so visible, how
it is that nobody noticed before?".

Is this what you mean by "seems to work fine for other people"?

Bear in mind that a lot of people use the CDs by Philip Charles,
not this package, to bootstrap the Hurd.

Does this version (1.7.25) actually work for you?
