Dear ftpmasters, makedev packagers, I propose to remove makedev. All its uses should be obsoleted by udev. The source package has some build requirements making building it non-trivial in various environments (however the official buildds with root support are fine). I intend to keep this bug tagged moreinfo until mid-April to give everybody enough time to respond to this proposal. Thanks for your attention, Chris
