Package: dracut
Version: 060+5-8
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
Recent update to dracut 060+5-8 and systemd 256~rc3-2.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
Regenerated initrd, rebooted on a system with unencrypted boot and
encrypted root device. The system uses systemd-cryptsetup and has
a FIDO2 device set up in one of the LUKS slots.
* What was the outcome of this action?
Getting errors related to /usr not being writable while initrd
operates. The systemd-cryptsetup prompt for the FIDO2 device show up,
but after that the boot hangs waiting for the root device to occur.
Will try to send a screenshot of the errors in a separate mail.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
Clean boot.
* Other information
I'm aware of Debian bugs #1071278, #1056108, and related. But even
though these (and related) should be fixed on my system it hangs
during boot.
This issue should be related to the "ProtectSystem" parameter: If I
set that to false and the regenerate the initrd, then the system
comes up as expected.
So probably there are still more problems that need to be fixed in
dracut to not write to /usr ...
