Debian follows the Filesystem Hierarchy Standard (FHS) version 3.0 (as per
[2]), and /var/db is not listed as a standard directory in the FHS document[1].
Indeed, [2] refers to FHS v3.0 which does not include /var/db/. The OP
seems to have referred to FHS v0.65 [3].
