Hey, the only thing in dvdxchap that cannot be killed with -9 is I/O. And the only I/O that is done are the calls to libdvdread. So I strongly doubt that this is a problem in dvdxchap itself. I've also tried to reproduce this with three DVDs (one of them ripped on the harddisk) and haven't been successful.
