hylafax-server no longer sends notifications after upgrade from 4.2.x to 4.3. I performed a dist-upgrade from sarge to unstable because I needed a feature that is only included in 4.3 (attachment of cover sheets to confirmation messages.) After dist-upgrade completed, no email notifications -- either of incoming faxes or confirmation of sent faxes -- were being sent. Further inspection of logs showed that bin/notify was failing, but did not indicate why. Manually running bin/notify with some dummy arguments showed that the new bin/notify script expects to source some shell functions from /var/spool/hylafax/bin/common-functions; this file is not present in hylafax-server 4.3 as of 2006-06-04. I downloaded this file from hylafax source tree and put it in place. After that, further testing indicated that bin/notify was expecting another file /var/spool/hylafax/bin/dictionary. I downloaded this file from the hylafax source tree and put it in place. Notifications work perfectly again! Sorry, I don't know how to create package patch files, but this fix should be easy to implement. The absence of these files effectively cripples the package for anyone who needs to receive incoming faxes by email, or needs to get confirmations of successful/requeued/aborted transmissions by email.
