Ahh.

This package contains patches where git and dpkg-source disagree about
the meaning of a patch.  The workaround dgit uses is very slow (and I
think probably unavoidably so: the workaround is to actually run
dpkg-source).

One thing we *could* do though is to make a config option that causes
dgit to make less detailed git histories when it is forced to import a
dsc.  The resulting histories probably ought not to be uploaded
anywhere but they would be much quicker to produce.
