Hoping this reaches the right place. The problem arrised from having the dri snapshot from dri.sf.net installed on the system. This replaced libGL and seems to have been compiled with an older ld which caused the problem.
Also, I am sorry for the bunch of following bug reports, there seems to be a bug with reportbug (it connects to the debian bug report smtp server and just keeps on submitting).
