Hi Andrea! This is a new terminal command, which is in the spirit of "cowsay" or "figlet". The name is deliberately short in order to be funny; renaming it to something longer like "ascii-meow" would go against the spirit of the command. There is no other software named meow, and there are no other such ITPs in the debian repositories. There is another Cargo/rust package named "meow"; however, this is an unmaintained piece of software and will likely not be packaged as a Debian package in the future.
In addition, this software has been released under the package name "meow" in the Nixpkgs repository: https://search.nixos.org/packages?channel=unstable&show=meow For consistency, the package should be named the same across different package repositories. Hopefully this makes sense and is acceptable!
