Despite seemingly extensive documentation, which for most part is really the same content in three formats with the same gaps in all of them, I still have no idea about how to use the hooks in particular. There is close to no explanation in either only help, man page, or manual, with the website also providing only access to the latter two. According to the manual (5.2 `Hooks`) there's supposed to be examples under /contrib/hooks/ in the source tree, which is of course not provided but apparently outdated information anyway, the directory doesn't exist. I only looked into the current version, assuming that hunting down documentation in the development history is probably not the way to go. We need some explanation about what to put into these files and what can be done with them. I would be fine with said examples, although they'd better work with the version currently in Debian of course. Regards, Oliver
