I'm not 100% sure to whom you are addressing that question. Despite me being probably the most active uploader of this package, the maintainer is the Debian Go Packaging Team (ironically, since the package only contains shell and Python scripts). Since you are presumably also a Go packaging team member, you can theoretically just do a team upload instead of an NMU.
Also despite me being a DD for a few years now, I don't have upload access to stable-updates, and only got access to -backports several months after requesting it, so my focus tends to stay on unstable (which also keeps me plenty busy).
I have no objection if you want to fix this in stable.
