Package: dictd
Version: 1.9.15-1

After installing a lot of dictionary db:s dictd no longer starts.
Considering that it worked with just ascii db:s this bug maybe should be
filed against another package, however the fact that dictd seems to fail
silently is a bug in itself.

Neither /etc/default/dictd nor /etc/init.d/dictd suggests anything about
logging.

Reading the man page tells me to add -s to the options gives me the
following in the syslog. Don't care about the content of the messages,
that is already reported in #232227.

dictd[996]: :I: 996 starting dictd 1.9.15/rf on Linux 2.6.9 Tue Mar 1 13:23:40
2005
dictd[996]: :E: locale 'C' can not be used for utf-8 dictionaries. Exiting

Why isn't -s added by default? Does it create huge amounts of debug data
that makes it unsuitable for everyday use?
