I am not running sway, this is in gnome. But I did install sway recently.

I tried removing sway and python3-i3ipc. Then it failed with
"The i3ipc module is not found, so 'sway' pasting is not available."

Somehow, SWAYSOCK was set when logging into gnome on xorg. I had to unset that 
to
fix the problem.
