But having used this naturally for so long, it didn't occur to me in time that I should have checked whether shipping this in effectively the autopkgtest namespace would be OK with you.

I would appreciate your feedback on the matter. Is this approach acceptable to you? If not, can you suggest another approach to which you would be more amenable?
We should have an answer, but currently I don't. Helmut (in CC) suggested to discuss this in real life in Hamburg. I think that might be easiest, but that means delaying an answer.
