libwpd8-dev includes these files:
/usr/lib/libwpd-0.8.la
/usr/lib/libwpd-stream-0.8.la
one of which refers to /usr/lib/libgsf-1.la from the libgsf-1-dev package
which I maintain.
While these libtool helper files may be useful on some Un*x systems, they
are not particularly useful on GNU/Linux systems and may in fact complicate
library transitions. The information in these files is also available in
a more preferred form (pkg-config .pc files) which does not have this
disadvantage.
Please drop these .la files from this package. It should be safe to do so
as there are no other -dev packages that declare a dependency on this one.
Removing these .la files will bring me one step closer to being able to drop
/usr/lib/libgsf-la.la in turn.
