Hi, on the http://localhost:631/admin page, I get the following error message: Unable to open cupsd.conf file: Permission denied and if I try to call "Edit Configuration File", I get: Error: Broken pipe Also the group access rights in the CUPS config directory do not seem (to me) really consistent: # ll -R /etc/cups /etc/cups: total 68 -rw------- 1 root lp 82 2006-06-12 11:15 classes.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2204 2005-04-19 16:27 client.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1215 2005-05-02 18:27 command.types drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2006-06-09 09:18 cups.d -rw-r----- 1 root lpadmin 2647 2006-06-05 15:59 cupsd.conf drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 2005-04-19 16:27 interfaces -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4461 2006-06-05 15:59 mime.convs -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 6109 2006-06-05 15:59 mime.types drwxr-xr-x 2 root lp 4096 2006-06-19 11:06 ppd -rw------- 1 root lp 951 2006-06-19 11:06 printers.conf -rw------- 1 root lp 1224 2006-06-19 10:40 printers.conf.O -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 946 2005-11-09 00:21 pstoraster.convs -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 242 2005-05-10 18:49 raw.convs -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 213 2005-05-10 18:49 raw.types drwx------ 2 root lp 4096 2006-06-05 15:59 ssl /etc/cups/cups.d: total 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13 2006-06-19 10:50 browse.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 21 2006-06-19 10:50 ports.conf /etc/cups/interfaces: total 0 /etc/cups/ppd: total 44 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 20431 2006-06-12 11:14 B32-BBN05135.ppd -rw-r--r-- 1 root lpadmin 12044 2005-05-13 17:16 B32-BBN05634.ppd -rw-r--r-- 1 root lpadmin 12063 2005-11-04 10:22 B32-P0105.ppd /etc/cups/ssl: total 0 Sometimes root, sometimes lp and sometimes lpadmin (my normal user belongs to lpadmin, but not to lp). Also it sounds strange to have specific lp group ownership without any access rights for this group. I have "SystemGroup lpadmin" in cupsd.conf. cupsd runs as root. Tell me if you need more information.
