I'm running trixie myself, with liferea from experimental and can't reproduce the issue. So I suspect it's fixed in the mean time.

Are you able to run liferea under gdb and get a back trace when you reproduce the issue? I don't think upstream really supports older versions, but maybe they are able to help.
