Saying that local tarballs aren't relevant isn't enough, because someone might think that pushing the pristine-tar branch to salsa would be enough for the tag2upload service to opportunistically try to make use of it. What I've done is include a reference to #1106071 in both the check failed error message and in the manpage description of --force=pristine-tar. I think that's sufficient documentation for now, and I'm wary of cluttering up what's currently a nice simple manpage. -- Sean Whitton
