Hello Andrew,
thank you for the bug report. I agree that reading two NEWS entries
which overlap themselves, the second superseding the first one, 
is annoying.

Please can you help me to merge those entries? I ignore how to do it,
and the page
https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/developers-reference/best-pkging-practices.html#common-packaging-situations
does not give any hint about merging them.
