Hi,debian/watch format is ready. It includes "Templates" that permits one to workaround such upstream behavior.
For example with Metacpan, the next version of uscan will use "MetaCPAN::Client" to avoid such rejections (and GitHub APIs for GitHub).
If someone knows a solution for sf.net, it might be possible to create a sf.net template
