Please put a comment in /etc/default/nfs-common that statd options there will no longer be noticed and should now be put into /etc/nfs.conf.d/local.conf -- see /etc/nfs.conf for examples/default.
The reason that I ask this is that not everyone has read (or will remember) the announcements or upgrade notes.
