Thanks for your report - Though, I cannot reproduce this, I can make
similar behaviour if I show the sidebar, and resize it dragging it all
the way to the right edge of the window, and then my geeqie behaves
similar to yours. To get out of this situation (I'm not 100% this is
what you see, but it's worth a try), you'll need to grab the sidebar
(which might be showing just one pixel) and drag it to a better size.

If this isn't it - does geeqie show anything special if you start it
from a terminal?

Lets start with testing that, and if those doesn't solve it, could you
provide your geeqie config?: 

~/.config/geeqie/geeqierc.xml

and I might be able to see if you have any strange stuff there.
