A patch is available for this in the AUR -- https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/lines-rewrap.patch
This issue seems to manifest specifically for users of tiling WMs (I use xmonad). I've tried to rebuild the package adding the patch above, and it seems to fix the issue.
