Package: librust-rust-apt-dev Version: 0.7.0-6 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer,
The rust-apt crate released version 0.8.0 in July 2025. This version has a number of fixes and useful features that 0.7.0 does not have; specifically, it implements the Acquire part of the API allowing for package downloads without installation. Additionally, version 0.7.0 has some broken features such as .uris() on the Version struct which uses a lifetime antipattern, making it (and others) either cumbersome or near-impossible to use. If an update is possible, I would also very much like to see it released via trixie-backports so that it can be utilized selectively on stable installations.
