Control: tag -1 wontfix Control: severity -1 minor I take the fact that this bug has been left unanswered for over 3 years now as a sign that we, the Debian maintainers, do not see "rootless" docker.io as an important feature. I personally would recommend anyone to look into podman, which ships with Debian since 3 stable releases, as the more mature and reliable alternative.
I'm marking this issue as wontfix for this reason. I'm not closing the issue in case it motivates new contributors to step up and substantially share the maintenance of the docker.io package in Debian. Best, -rt
