I see that the package freespace2 (version 24.2.0+repack-1) recommends
freespace2-mod-mediavps
which is not in unstable.
freespace2-mod-mediavps is a data package that can be built by the user
to enhance the game.
You can find instruction on how to built it in the last section of
/usr/share/doc/freespace2/README.Debian
This can be seen in https://packages.debian.org/unstable/freespace2
Should it be dropped or changed?
I think that freespace2-mod-mediavps was never in Debian. Might have
existed (or exists) but not in Ubuntu (I'm checking also packages.ubuntu.com).
it's a very common pattern in the games team to depends/recommends
non-free/non-redistributable data package that don't exist in the Debian
archive.
See quake3 for exemple:
Depends: [...] quake2-full-data | quake2-demo-data | game-data-packager
game-data-package will help the user to build/install the data package.
Now we can discuss the relevance of recommending such a package, but is
it really a bug ?
best regards,
