We haven't updated liferea in the last couple of stable releases, so if this happens because of stable updates, it should be something lower in the stack than liferea itself. Unless I misunderstand you.
I'm not sure what to do with this report other than forwarding it upstream, which I encourage to do yourself, such that you can reply to questions when they arise. Please link the bug if you do, such that I can cherry-pick a fix.
