This bug/request is essentially the same as #1087378 for sbuild in which I requested that the configuration file was moved out of $HOME and into $HOME/.config/devscripts/ f.e. to unclutter my $HOME and make it much easier to put things under version control. A move to $HOME/.config/devscripts/ would be sufficient for me, but as $HOME/.config is the default location for XDG_CONFIG_HOME, you'd get bonus points for full support of XDG BDS.
