Changing the .desktop file has no effect.  But if I rebuild pan with
the call to g_set_prgname in pan.cc removed, the additional icon
disappears.

I just noticed that hovering the mouse over the pan icon that is
attached to the Clip shows the following tooltip:

1 Pan
(pan)

That's with the above change.  If I reinstall pan/0.164-1 from the
archive, it shows

pan
(pan)

and the tooltip of the extra icon is

org.gnome.pan
(org.gnome.pan)

It looks like for wmaker pan and org.gnome.pan are two separate
programs :(
