Actual result (edited to remove blank lines):
oh my, what a mess!
1. libflac-dev contains development files for both FLAC and FLAC++. libflac++-dev becomes an empty transitional package depending on libflac-dev.
I think this is the way to go. It does not involve any upstream changes and keeps the fix for #1118470 intact by shipping all files required to build against either libFLAC or libFLAC++ in one place.
5. (maybe others, I don't know CMake very well)
Me neither. :/
Having libflac-dev pull in the flac package (command-line tools) to avoid this error doesn't seem ideal...
This is ugly, but not unusual. See for example: https://tracker.debian.org/news/1622512/accepted-fluidsynth-243dfsg-4-source-into-unstable/ https://tracker.debian.org/news/1616126/accepted-libzip-1113-2-source-into-unstable/ Cheers, - Fabian
