Dear Maintainer, The upstream developer of this package warns users not to use it anymore. The project homepage as listed by debian is: http://ext4magic.sf.net/ext4magic_en.html The right-hand side of that page identifies the developer as 'robi6', and points to a project URL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext4magic/ That URL points to "Ticket #17", dated 2024-09-30, and warns (see in particular paragraph 4): ext4magic project has been in deep sleep for 10 years and is now changing to abandoned. During this time, around 30 releases of the dependent e2fsprogs and library have been released. These changes are not reflected in the current ext4magic code, so current file systems are no longer compatible with ext4magic. User feedback shows that ext4magic can no longer successfully process current ext4 file systems. The clear recommendation to users is: please do not use ext4magic, it will no longer work correctly. For the packers in the various distributions, if you still provide packages for it, please stop supporting ext4magic as an optional package for your distribution.
