Hello, the new 0.44 version of inkscape was released a few days ago. The Debian upgrade might take care of some the known problems, at the end of http://wiki.inkscape.org/wiki/index.php/ReleaseNotes044, more specifically : - Linking with libgc 1:6.7-2 or more to avoid some of the crashes described by users - Crash when the "composite" extension of Xorg is activated is also solved. The impressive list of new features alone is a good incentive for an upgrade as well.
