It's not possible to remove db5.3 support in forky and provide an upgrade path from trixie; db5.3 has been the default backend database for many years.
I am working on support for lmdb + sqlite3 backends upstream, with the intent of making one of those the default in forky + making use of the stacked backend for a smooth migration. I can then disable the db5.3 backend entirely for duke.
