Just for reference, when I backed out the patch last week I read LP#2113790 at that time as, in this order: - there was an autopkgtests regression, in systemd none the less (#15) - you updated the patch due to broken XML (#16) - there was also a segfault mentioned in XML output (#17) and hence it seemed that further clarification was needed. My time was limited at that time and I didn't want to trigger any issues in Debian, so I backed out. I now reenabled that patch, in its latest incarnation as you had attached to your mail (thanks!), and I added some basic tests cases for XML and JSON output on nonexistent directories (in addition to the previous testcases for XML and JSON output on existing directories) which all pass, so I am willing to try again.
