I agree, but the genie is now out of the bottle. I keep build logs for all packages in the unstable/amd64 (as a side product of my archive rebuilds), so I have made a grep on those two package names on the build logs, and found 81 potentially affected packages (attached). Now I will rebuild them in unstable and will tell you what I find. After that, my suggestion for Laszlo would be to report all the bugs that have to be reported including a hint about how to fix them, maybe with a pointer to this page: https://wiki.debian.org/qa.debian.org/FTBFS with a new entry added for this case.
