Dear Maintainer, When I run recent versions of Debian, this is written to the Journal every 30s, as long as the system is up: Nov 14 20:58:24 debian upowerd[1897]: value "-nan" of type 'gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property 'percentage' of type 'gdouble' Nov 14 20:58:54 debian upowerd[1897]: value "-nan" of type 'gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property 'percentage' of type 'gdouble' Nov 14 20:59:24 debian upowerd[1897]: value "-nan" of type 'gdouble' is invalid or out of range for property 'percentage' of type 'gdouble' I suspect upower can't detect presence of battery. This system ASUS X541NA doesn't have one. I use this hardware for live system trials, and most wrongly show "battery present" but some do get it right, eg, the mate "Battery Charge Monitor" applet tooltip correctly shows: System is running on AC power No battery present I'm used to systems that would log "message repeated 10000 times" rather than actually logging the identical message every 30 seconds. -- System Information: Debian Release: forky/sid APT prefers stable-security APT policy: (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'forky'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.16.12+deb14+1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages upower depends on: ii dbus [default-dbus-system-bus] 1.16.2-2 ii libc6 2.41-12 ii libglib2.0-0t64 2.86.1-1 ii libgudev-1.0-0 238-7 ii libimobiledevice-1.0-6 1.4.0-1 ii libplist-2.0-4 2.7.0+git20250820-1 ii libpolkit-gobject-1-0 126-2 ii libupower-glib3 1.90.10-1 ii udev 258.1-2 Versions of packages upower recommends: ii polkitd 126-2 upower suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
