Package: mate-desktop-environment Version: 1.26.0+2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
I'm on a fresh installation of Debian testing (nearly Debian 13) and have mate-desktop 1.26.0+2 installed. (1.26.0+3 is available, but the relevant patch in git is still the same) My goal is to use Windows+T to open a new tab in an existing mate-terminal instance. Instead it always opens a new terminal. ## Problem source Mod4+T (Windows+T) is used as default key binding for opening a terminal, which can be changed with mate-keybinding-properties. After using that to disable the shortcut, Mod4+T still opens the terminal. Using dconf-editor I was able to see in /org/mate/marco/global-keybindings/ that run-command-4 has the shortcut <Mod4>t assigned. This is not configurable in mate-keybinding-properties. When using dconf-editor to set /org/mate/marco/global-keybindings/run-command-4 to disabled, the global shortcut is gone and I can assign and use the Mod4+T key combination in mate-terminal to open a new tab. ## Suggestion Either remove the run-command-x shortcuts or make them configurable in mate-keybinding-properties. ## Debian source In my upstream bug report[1], user vkareh debugged it and saw that the reason is a debian overlay file that defines those unmodifiable shortcuts: https://salsa.debian.org/debian-mate-team/mate-desktop-environment/-/blob/master/debian/10_mate-common.gschema.override?ref_type=heads#L34-56 [1] https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-control-center/issues/791 -- System Information: Debian Release: 13.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.16.0 (SMP w/12 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_WARN Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages mate-desktop-environment depends on: ii mate-desktop-environment-core 1.26.0+2 Versions of packages mate-desktop-environment recommends: ii atril 1.26.2-4 ii desktop-base 13.0.4 ii engrampa 1.26.2-5 ii eom 1.26.1-1+b1 ii ffmpegthumbnailer 2.2.3-2 ii libcanberra-pulse 0.30-18 ii mate-applet-brisk-menu 0.6.2-2+b1 ii mate-applets 1.26.1-3.1 ii mate-backgrounds 1.26.0-1 ii mate-calc 1.26.0-1+b1 ii mate-indicator-applet 1.26.0-1+b1 ii mate-media 1.26.2-1+b3 ii mate-notification-daemon 1.26.1-1+b3 ii mate-power-manager 1.26.1-1.1 ii mate-screensaver 1.26.2-1+b1 ii mate-system-monitor 1.26.3-1+b1 ii mate-user-guide 1.26.2-1 ii mate-utils 1.26.1-1+b3 ii matekbd-keyboard-display 23.11.1-1+b1 ii pipewire-audio 1.4.2-1 ii pluma 1.26.1-2.1 Versions of packages mate-desktop-environment suggests: ii bsd-mailx [mail-reader] 8.1.2-0.20220412cvs-1.1 ii claws-mail [mail-reader] 4.3.1-1 ii emacs-nox [mail-reader] 1:30.1+1-6 ii evolution [mail-reader] 3.56.1-1+deb13u1 ii firefox 145.0~build2 ii mailutils [mail-reader] 1:3.19-1 pn mate-desktop-environment-extras <none> ii network-manager-applet 1.36.0-3+b1 -- no debconf information
