I went back and reproduced the problem in a vm. Using https://snapshot.debian.org/package/fwupd/, the problem reproduced after a full-uprade to snapshot 20250331T204620Z (a timestamp before the time I reported encountering the problem) with fwupd 2.0.7-2. The usb key works well after a full-upgrade to current unstable with fwupd 2.0.17-6. I tested a few versions and it seems that the problem was fixed between 2.0.8-3 and 2.0.13-2. The device I used is a idVendor 0x0951 Kingston Technology idProduct 0x1603 DataTraveler 1GB/2GB Pen Drive
