Hello,
I changed the pull request [1] to add a conflicts setting on the
unbound-resolvconf service file. This way both services can be installed
together but will not run at the same time unless an administrator
configures them correctly to work with each other and overrides this
default setting.

unbound? They can do very different things, and I use both on the same
system. systemd-resolved for the local forwarding resolver, and unbound
on a different port to resolve DNS lists for spam checking since that
can't go through a shared resolver like all other DNS traffic.
